The event was inaugurated by prominent figures from ICAI, marking the launch of several initiatives aimed at integrating AI into the accounting profession, including the CA GPT for members and students, and a Certificate Course on AI for Members.

This summit not only highlights ICAI’s pioneering efforts in adopting AI technology but also emphasizes the critical role of Chartered Accountants in navigating the technologically driven landscape of today’s accounting standards and ethical practices. ICAI Embarks on a Revolutionary Journey with AI Innovation Summit 2024

Hyderabad, July 16, 2024 – The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has taken a monumental step towards the future of finance and technology by inaugurating the AI Innovation Summit – AIS 2024 at Shilpakala Vedika, Hyderabad. This groundbreaking event, scheduled for July 16th and 17th, brings together a diverse group of global AI experts, tech industry leaders, policymakers, and academicians to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in accounting, audit, tax, and governance.

Under the theme “Transforming Accounting, Audit, Tax, and Governance,” the summit aims to highlight the pivotal role of AI in driving innovation, empowering professionals, and reshaping the work paradigms in the financial sector. The event was inaugurated by the luminaries of ICAI, including CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President of ICAI; CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, Vice-President of ICAI; CA. Dayaniwas Sharma, Chairman, AI in ICAI; and CA. Umesh Sharma, Vice Chairman, AI in ICAI, alongside Central and Regional Council Members.

In a significant move to empower its members and students, ICAI announced the launch of CA GPT on July 1st, followed by the introduction of an exclusive Certificate Course on AI for Members and the release of a publication featuring 100 AI tools tailored for financial and accounting functions. Furthermore, the ‘ICAI CA GPT’ for students was also unveiled, promising to revolutionize exam preparation by offering comprehensive study materials on a single platform, free of cost to all 9.85 lakh students.

CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, in his inaugural address, emphasized the institute’s commitment to embracing innovation and advancing the accounting profession through AI. He highlighted the significance of AI in finance, education, and healthcare, and its potential to position India as a global leader in technology. The integration of AI, especially in translating audit reports into local languages, was pointed out as a transformative step in enhancing accessibility and understanding.

The summit also marks the collaboration between ICAI and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to develop an audit tool aimed at addressing compliance issues, detecting fraud, and facilitating informed decision-making to improve professional practices. CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, Vice President of ICAI, underscored India’s leadership in AI adoption, with a significant percentage of Indian companies and ongoing projects incorporating AI technologies.

AIS 2024 features an interactive exhibition showcasing the latest AI technologies, solutions, and services, alongside the grand finale of the AI Hackathon. The event offers unparalleled networking opportunities, enabling participants to connect with peers, colleagues, and solution providers worldwide, fostering collaboration in AI-driven finance.

CA. Dayaniwas Sharma, Chairman, AI in ICAI, expressed excitement over showcasing AI’s role in enhancing efficiency and accuracy across finance functions.
