ICAN Sokoto District Society to Construct Modern Secretariats for Young Accountants

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Sokoto District Society is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative to construct modern secretariats in Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states. This move aims to provide young accountants with essential resources and information to foster their growth and development in the field of accounting.

The newly sworn-in 5th Chairman of the Sokoto District, Alhaji Ismaeel Oluwaseun Suleiman, announced this ambitious project during a recent event in Birnin Kebbi. He revealed that prime land has been acquired in strategic locations in Birnin Kebbi and Sokoto states for the construction of the secretariats and study centers. Suleiman emphasized that these buildings will meet the highest standards and will be developed in collaboration with the ICAN national body and state governments.

The construction of these modern facilities is expected to offer easy access to information and resources for aspiring accountants, ultimately increasing the number of Chartered Accountants in the region. Additionally, the District’s Study Centre has been registered, paving the way for the commencement of lectures soon.

Suleiman also outlined a series of initiatives that the District Society will focus on, including community relations, the publication of a district newsletter, welfare packages, website development, member training, conference participation, and a youth engagement program. He stressed the importance of unity among members to achieve these goals and create an inclusive and welcoming society where every member feels valued and empowered.

In his valedictory speech, the immediate past Chairman of the district, Alhaji Sanni Yusuf Olatunji, commended the efforts of the new administration and encouraged former executive members to continue supporting their initiatives. The Special Guest of the occasion, Chief of Staff to the Kebbi State Governor, Barrister Attairu Maccido, lauded ICAN for their professionalism and contributions to Nigeria’s economic development. He also pledged the state government’s support in enrolling students for professional examinations conducted by the association.

Overall, the construction of modern secretariats by ICAN Sokoto District Society signifies a significant step towards enhancing the professional development of young accountants in the region and fostering a sense of belonging and collective purpose among members.
