HKA Bolsters Forensic Accounting and Commercial Damages Practice with Trio of Industry Veterans

In a significant move to enhance its Forensic Accounting and Commercial Damages (FACD) practice, HKA, a global leader in consulting, expert, and advisory services, has announced the addition of three distinguished experts to its team in the United States. K. Scott Van Meter, Pamela Verick, and Alexander Lee have joined HKA, bringing with them a wealth of experience and expertise that promises to fortify the company’s capabilities in this critical area.

K. Scott Van Meter steps into the role of partner at HKA’s Houston office. With a career spanning over 35 years, Van Meter is a seasoned professional in litigation consulting, bankruptcy and restructuring, valuation, and forensic accounting. His extensive experience includes serving as an expert witness in over 100 disputes across North America and Europe, covering a wide range of issues from commercial and intellectual property disputes to accounting/auditing malpractice and economic damages. Van Meter’s journey to HKA follows a successful tenure at B. Riley Financial, and his credentials include a JD from Stetson University, a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from Washington and Lee University, and certifications as a public accountant, insolvency and restructuring advisor, and in financial forensics.

Joining the Washington, DC office as a principal, Pamela Verick brings over 25 years of expertise in fraud risk management and compliance programs. Verick’s specialization in advising on bribery and corruption risk, ethics and integrity, and fraud governance positions her as a valuable asset to HKA. Her background includes pivotal roles in the forensic practices of Protiviti and KPMG, and she holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in justice from American University, in addition to being a certified fraud examiner and compliance and ethics professional.

Alexander Lee has been appointed as a director based in New York City. With more than 15 years of experience in accounting, business valuations, and damages quantification, Lee has a proven track record in commercial and investor-state disputes across various industries, including mining, energy, banking, and real estate. Before joining HKA, Lee served as a director at AlixPartners and a senior director at FTI Consulting, after starting his career at KPMG. He holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in accounting from the University of Waterloo in Canada and is a chartered professional accountant and chartered business valuator.

Ave Tucker, partner and strategic growth advisor at HKA, expressed enthusiasm about the new additions, stating, "As we continue expanding our FACD practice across the Americas, we are excited to welcome Scott, Pam, and Alex to our team. These experts are well known in their respective fields and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that will help as we grow our business and continue to provide innovative solutions to our clients."

The arrival of Van Meter, Verick, and Lee follows closely on the heels of HKA welcoming Jae Ellis, Melyana Melyana, Veronique Chauvea, Brad Dragoon, Jeffrey Matthews, and Chad Salsbery as senior hires in its FACD practice, signaling a significant investment in the firm’s future and its commitment to delivering unparalleled expertise to its clients.
