K. Scott Van Meter, an esteemed figure in litigation consulting, bankruptcy and restructuring, valuation, and forensic accounting, joins HKA as a Partner in Houston, TX. With a robust career spanning over 35 years, Van Meter has carved a niche for himself as a financial advisor and litigation support specialist for a diverse clientele including plaintiffs, defendants, corporations, debtors, and creditors. His expertise has been sought in over 100 complex disputes across North America and Europe, covering commercial, intellectual property, accounting/auditing malpractice, valuation, and economic damages. Van Meter’s extensive experience also encompasses providing testimony in bankruptcy-related disputes.
Before his engagement with HKA, Van Meter held the position of managing director at B. Riley Financial. His academic credentials include a Juris Doctorate (JD) from Stetson University College of Law and a Bachelor of Business Administration and Accounting from Washington and Lee University. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) licensed in Texas and Florida, a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA), and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF).
Joining the team as Principal based in Washington, DC, Pamela Verick brings over 25 years of experience in global fraud risk management, data-driven compliance programs, and triaged responses to unplanned events. Verick’s specialization in bribery and corruption risk, ethics, and integrity, among other areas, positions her as a forensic advisory leader with a global footprint, having provided assistance in 40 countries across six continents. Her prior role was as a director in the forensic practices of a globally recognized consulting organization and a Big Four accounting firm. Verick holds a Master of Science in Justice/Judicial Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Justice from American University, and she is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP).
Alexander Lee, stepping in as Director based in New York City, brings over 15 years of experience as a testifying expert in business valuations and damages quantification. Lee’s professional journey has seen him engage in various industries, including mining, energy, banking, and real estate development. His recognition in Who’s Who Legal (WWL) Arbitration Future Leaders, Mining, and Thought Leaders USA – Mining guides underscores his prominence in the field. Lee’s previous tenure was as a director at AlixPartners, and he holds both a Master of Accounting and a Bachelor of Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Waterloo. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) in Ontario and a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV).
